COLLEGE VISITS
Monday, September 8, 2008
WELCOME CLASS OF 2009!
This year I am going to provide information on college visits, application process, resumes, acceptances, financial aid and just general information on the college process on this web page.
Make sure you read the web site calendar for college visits at Tri-Cities Prep. I will put college campus visit dates on this page as I get them. Seattle U will be here on Thursday, September 11th at 2 pm
This is a very busy time for our seniors. They need to get teacher recommendations, write essays and fill out applications. THE GOAL IS TO BE DONE BEFORE NOVEMBER 15TH!!! This is MOST important as competition for acceptances is becoming increasingly difficult and our experience is that first come also get the most financial aid. Sign Up for SAT’s on collegeboard.com today!! Deadline for November test is September 26th.
I am attending a college update counselor workshop on September 11st at WSU which will provide me with all current stats on college admissions in the State (both public and private) and the financial aid picture for next year. I will present this information at the College Night on September 25, 2005 at 7pm. This will be no longer than an hour.
PLEASE—students and parents—get the resumes of your student’s lives to date in high school (clubs, offices held, sports, awards—both academic and others—outside activities, volunteer work, church activities etc.) written and returned to the teachers they want to do reference letters for them—you must have these letters done before you send the applications. Check each application form of the colleges you are applying to and see if and how many references you need—it is usually never more than two.
Check with me before you send college applications—in case I can get fee waivers for you so you don’t have to pay application fees—Many colleges also waive the fees if you apply on line before December. This can save you a lot of money!
The seven classes that have gone to college from Prep have paved a very successful path for our students—and I have worked hard to get to know all the admissions staffs at as many colleges as I can. Let’s see who gets the first cake!
